'Communication
Breakdown' Star Helps Kids
Monday,
September 26, 2005
|
|
For years, "Communication
Breakdown" star Dan
Lashley (who wrote that script along with director Richard
O'Sullivan) has been noted for his trademark long locks. That's why many
were stunned when he volunteered to lose his precious mane for a good cause.
Recently, Lashley sat down in the barber's chair to donate his hair to Locks
of Love, an organization which turns donated human hair into wigs for kids
diagnosed with cancer.

|
"Show biz is a really superficial business," says
Lashley. "People obsess over the way they look night and day. But when
you see what these kids are going through, it's like, jeez, what am I whining
about? Screw it. This is the least I can do."

Aleks
West Looks to Career Behind the Camera
Monday,
September 26, 2005
|
"I know it's an old Hollywood cliché," says actress Aleks
West. "But what I really wanna do is direct." The
Polish-born beauty, who never fails to brighten a room simply by
entering it, hopes to follow in the footsteps of another model/actress,
Sophia Coppola ("Lost in Translation"), who parlayed her time
in front of the camera into an Oscar-winning career behind it.
West, who recently helped filmmaker Richard
O'Sullivan ("Communication
Breakdown") produce a series of music videos for rising
singer/songwriter Judson, never fails to impress when she walks onto a
set.
"Aleks is the rarest of individuals," says O'Sullivan.
"Not only is she dropdead gorgeous, but she's funny, smart, and
completely professional. You always get the whole catfight mentality on
a set whenever you have a bunch of beautiful women around, but I've
never heard a single bad thing said about Aleks on any set. I constantly
hear back from people who say 'I figured a girl that beautiful had to be
a bitch...but she was the sweetest, most helpful person I've met.' That
says to me that she has what it takes to excel in filmmaking. She cares
about the people she works with and cares about doing what's right for
the project at hand. I'd hire her to direct in a heartbeat."
West, currently filming a lead role in the Appalachian murder mystery
"Shelly's Diary," has numerous projects that she's in the
process of developing.

'Communication
Breakdown' Rocker Makes It to INXS Finals

Marty Casy, from the Chicago-based Lovehammers, was one of three
finalists in the grueling audition process to find a new lead singer for
the legendary INXS. The rockers, who lost their front man Michael
Hutchence to a self-inflicted hanging in 1997, allowed
"Survivor" creator Mark Burnett to document their search in a
reality show for CBS entitled "Rock Star: INXS." The eventual
winner of the spot was Canadian singer J.D. Fortune, but not before Casy
tore through a series of songs over a several week period, picking up
millions of new fans worldwide. Lovehammers appear on the soundtrack of
the Richard
O'Sullivan-directed "Communication
Breakdown."

Edmonds, one of the driving forces behind the Richard
O'Sullivan-directed film, "Communication
Breakdown," launches "Enduro at Erzberg" on the
Outdoor Life Network (OLN) on September 11 (with a rebroadcast on
September 15).

Satu Juggles Projects
Like a Coked-up Circus Clown
Monday,
September 5, 2005
"Sally never sleeps," says Writer/Producer/Director Richard
O'Sullivan about his friend, actress Satu
Rautaharju. "She's always got three or four projects going on
at once and I'm certain that when we're not looking, she's sneaking out
at night to fight crime in some homemade super hero costume."
The sexy star, rumored for months to be the frontrunner to win the
big-screen Wonder Woman role, is all over the place these days,
appearing in metal videos on MTV, acting on the New York stage, and
landing plum roles in feature films.
The Trinidadian-Finnish stunner, attached to the "Breach of
Heaven" TV pilot, has just been cast in two feature films,
"Born of Blood" (from Bandurango Films) and "The
Grasslands," starring Ed Lauter ("E.R."), Mike Starr
("Ed"), James Madio ("Basketball Diaries"), R &
B singer Deborah Cox, and Chuck Zito ("Oz"). Satu has also
joined the cast of the "Blood Manor" production in Manhattan
and will soon be seen in a sizzling photo shoot for Lollipop Magazine.
"All I can say..." says O'Sullivan. "...Is that the Joker
had better hope she's too tired to kick his bony ass."
