Acclaimed Trombonist
Brings Shout Music Into the Mainstream
Monday,
November 29, 2004
Writer/Producer/Director
Richard
O'Sullivan
felt like he was discovering the Beatles for the first time when co-producer
John
Edmonds handed him a CD by acclaimed trombonist Kenny Carr (a virtuoso
who's played with such heavy hitters as Erika Badu and Jill Scott).
"Kenny's stuff is so traditional, it's untraditional...and vice
versa," says the filmmaker. Buoyed by the energy of Carr, Edmonds (a
respected video producer whose work appears on MTV and BET) and the team of
O'Sullivan & Linda
Jean Marlowe joined the musician this past weekend as he helmed a video
shoot for his protégé, bass extraordinaire Sam Jenkins. To read the rest

'Communication
Breakdown' Director Learns to Take Things in Stride
Monday,
November 29, 2004
Two years after the controversial sinking of his first attempt at a
feature, "Radio Free Babylon," Writer/Producer/Director
Richard
O'Sullivan has learned to take things in stride. "I usta be a lot quicker to
anger," says the filmmaker. "But since the RFB thing, I've
gradually come to realize that everything that happens in this business
is just another new chapter for the book. I do tend to take the smaller
battles a lot more personally though. Losing six million for a
distribution deal or even a hundred grand for a TV
movie-of-the-week script doesn't bother me nearly as much as having
someone I bent over backwards for knifing me when I'm not looking."
No longer stinging from the feud he had with his former associates on
the RFB set in 2002, O'Sullivan now laughs when he thinks of his old
foes. "I took a look at our former ["Radio Free Babylon"]
DP's website the other day. He has an RFB screen capture from a
scene we did at a gas station on his home page. Funny
thing is, it was a shot that I blocked when he
turned his back...five seconds after he threw a fit about people
touching his camera. But I dunno, I guess I'm sorta flattered by it all
now. It's been two years and they still have to steal from me in order
to promote their careers. But whatever...God bless 'em if they need it
that bad."

'Communication
Breakdown' Star Battles Cancer
Wednesday,
November 24, 2004
Model-turned-actress Aubrey
Goss, who plays sneaky sexpot Lurleen in
"Communication
Breakdown",
has announced that she is battling Hodgkin's Disease. Fortunately, doctors
caught the cancer very early and the 21-year-old beauty, who has appeared
in ads for Birkenstock and Wicked Weasel bikinis, is expected to make a
full recovery. Goss hopes that her predicament will teach young people
that cancer can strike at any age. "Aubrey's one of the sweetest
humans on the planet," says director Richard
O'Sullivan. "You don't wish something like this on anyone,
but it really rattles you when it's someone so young. Just proves it can
happen to anyone. I think I speak for the whole cast and crew, when I say
we're all thankful she's beating this thing." To see footage of Goss
(asking the question "Where you goin?"), check out the "Communication
Breakdown"
trailer

Lashley
interacting with the film's off-camera director, Richard
O'Sullivan. "Richard was in a really strange mood that

In yet another example of life imitating art, actor/producer Fred
Hueston (who plays a twisted radio station owner in
"Communication
Breakdown") is gearing up to hit the airwaves as a
real-life radio personality. Hueston, one of the world's leading
experts on stone, marble, and tile issues and a longtime syndicated
columnist/frequent cable TV guest, is in the planning stages to develop
a home improvement-oriented show which promises to be both informative and
entertaining. Hueston recently starred in the short film "The Magic
