Did 'Angel' Writers
Counterpunch O'Sullivan?
Monday,
May 31, 2004
"Communication
Breakdown" Director Richard
O'Sullivan raised a bit of a ruckus when journalist Harry Knowles'
website, Ain't It Cool News, incorrectly reported that a spec script
O'Sullivan had written was the season opener to Joss Whedon's WB series,
"Angel." Fast forward twelve months. As O'Sullivan was wrapping
up work on his feature-length directorial debut, one of the last episodes
of the cancelled "Angel" contained a most curious line. The
ensouled vampire character Spike (James Marsters), while fighting a
blue-haired demon named Illyria (Amy Acker), referred to his adversary as
"The Blue Meanie." What's curious about this is that
O'Sullivan's film,
"Communication
Breakdown" featured wrestling great Brian
Heffron (better known to grappling fans as, you guessed it, "The
Blue Meanie," a nickname garnered from the Beatles' "Yellow
Submarine"). "Angel" writer David Fury is himself a huge
wrestling fan and this past season, the show, which starred David Boreanez, contained an episode about a group of sibling Luchadores
(Mexican wrestlers) who come back from the dead to fight evil.

Communication
Breakdowners Help Charitable Efforts
Saturday,
May 22, 2004
This past week, Producer Linda
Jean Marlowe called upon her "Communication
Breakdown" pals to assist with her pet charity project, the Mountain
Adventure Renaissance Faire, and the troops came out in full force.
Director Richard
O'Sullivan, First A.D. Teresa
Villa, Associate Producers Larry
Stoy and Breazi
Breazeale, Key Grip Mike
McElrath, and actors Dan
Lashley (Kash), Holly
Marlowe (Girl in Store), and Fred
Hueston (Old Man McCormick) pitched in to help bring the event, which
is the only not-for-profit event of its type in the country, to life. The
MRAF umbrellas charitable groups assisting such causes as cancer research
and rape crisis. O'Sullivan says the volunteer work is a good way to stay
grounded. "Just when you think you're getting too Hollywood, I think
you need to get out, dig some holes, pitch some hay, and do really hard,
prison camp-style slave labor." Next up, Marlowe heads for Los
Angeles for the June premiere of Paul Schattel's "Sinkhole."

'Sinkhole' To Debut in Los Angeles
Monday,
May 10, 2004
The film that "Communication
Breakdown"
Director Richard O'Sullivan calls "the best independent film of the
year" will have its world premiere at Dances With Films in Los
Angeles next month. Paul Schattel's "Sinkhole" will have its
grand unveiling June 10-17 at the no-frills festival, which bears the
tagline, "No Stars, No Politics, No Shit." Several names
associated with "Communication
Breakdown"
(Producer Linda Jean
Marlowe, First A.D. Teresa
Villa, and actress Holly
Marlowe) were involved
in the making of "Sinkhole." Richard O'Sullivan
also feels a
unique connection to the film. "I'm currently living in a house that
was used as one of the locations in Paul's movie, so it's like looking in
a magic funhouse mirror every time I watch it." For more info on the

Entertainment Dilemma:
Raise Money to Fight Cancer or Turn a Profit for a Pedophile?
Saturday,
May 8, 2004
A
live wrestling show in Florida is causing a stir after a company owned and
operated by a controversial video producer garnered the distribution
rights to the event. The Peterson Cup (named in honor of late wrestling
star Jeff Peterson) was organized for the purpose of helping cancer
charities. However, when RF Video (founded by Rob Feinstein, a noted video
pirate who was caught in a television sting operation targeting pedophiles
two months ago) purchased the video rights, many of the performers
initially booked for the show began to have second thoughts. One star
commented, "I want to help in the fight against cancer, but I can't
do it if it means putting money into the pocket of a man who molests
children."
