Follow Up to 'Communication Breakdown' Announced by Director

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

As the producers of "Communication Breakdown" prepare to launch a cross-country film and music tour to coincide with the simultaneous DVD release of the raucous comedy, the makers of that movie are set to begin pre-production on a new film, a quirky romantic comedy entitled, "One Night With You."

"Not to give away too much of the plot, but it's a funny little love story set in the world of reality television," says director Richard O'Sullivan, who scripted from an original story by "Communication Breakdown" creator Dan Lashley. "It's a date movie, plain and simple. An unabashed attempt to win the hearts of the Multiplex-attending, Blockbuster-renting populous." Lost Colony Entertainment, the production company making the film, is currently in talks with several noted actors about joining the cast of "One Night With You." The romantic comedy, executive produced by Fred Hueston, is expected to begin principal photography later this year.

Gallo Re Ignites Christner Controversy by Pimping Himself Out

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Actor/director Vincent Gallo has gone and done it again. The controversial filmmaker, whose previous stunts include putting a fellatio scene in a "mainstream" film ("The Brown Bunny") and attempting to sell his on sperm online, is now whoring himself out...literally.

"I have decided to make myself available to all women," says Gallo. "All women who can afford me, that is. For the modest fee of $50,000 plus expenses, I can fulfill the wish, dream, or fantasy of any naturally born female. The fee covers one evening with Vincent Gallo. For those who wish to enjoy my company for a weekend, the fee is increased to a mere $100,000. Heavy set, older, red heads and even black chicks can have me if they can pay the bill. No real female will be refused. However, I highly frown upon any male having even the slightest momentary thought or wish that they could ever become my client. No way Jose. However, female couples of the lesbian persuasion can enjoy a Vincent Gallo evening together for $100,000. $200,000 buys the lesbos a weekend. A weekend that will have them second-guessing."

Many are saying Gallo has gone off the deep end and needs therapy but filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan, a big fan of Gallo's film "Buffalo 66," thinks the guy is a genius.

"He's one of the few people in the biz who really shakes things up," says O'Sullivan. "I see a lot of Andy Kaufman in him and that's meant as a compliment."

One part of Gallo's pitch that O'Sullivan does see a problem with is using the Chloe Sevigny oral sex scene in "The Brown Bunny" as a selling point. Last year, actor Jacob Christner ("Communication Breakdown") made the outrageous claim that it was actually his penis which doubled for Gallo's in the much-maligned film, a claim buoyed by the fact that Gallo's face and genitals are never in the same shot at the same time.

"As much as I'm a fan of Vincent and his antics, this could open up some worms," says O'Sullivan. "In both the sperm sale and booty sale, Gallo points to that one blowjob scene as a sample of what they're purchasing. If the rumors are true and it's not his penis, then that would leave him wide open for legal action. Maybe even investigation by the Federal Trade Commission."

No truth to the rumor that Christner plans to sell bottles of his own product at flea markets for two dollars a bottle.

'Communication Breakdown' Star Cancels Appearances Due to Illness

Friday, March 24, 2006

Wrestler-turned-actor Brian Heffron (UPN's "Smackdown") was forced to cancel several recent public appearances this past week after a severe case of the flu triggered an asthma attack.

Suffering from a 105-degree temperature, the personable grappler who plays a bumbling security guard named Jake in "Communication Breakdown," is currently taking antibiotics while resting at home. He plans to be back in the ring once he recovers.

"You know it had to be a pretty serious situation to put Brian out of commission," says his pal, filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan. "This is a guy who doesn't let anything stop him from doing what he loves so this must've been torture for him. Hopefully he'll be back on his feet in no time."

Heffron, known to wrestling fans as "The Blue Meanie," has also appeared in "Beyond the Mat" (from Oscar winner Ron Howard) and the cult horror flick "Swamp Zombies," as well as the WB sitcom "Nikki."

'Communication Breakdown' Comic In the Works

Friday, March 24, 2006

Just as "Communication Breakdown" prepares for its simultaneous college tour and DVD release, the first issue of the comic book version of CB, from the newly formed Lost Colony Comics, is on its way as well.

Featuring a story written by Dan Lashley & John Michael Burgess and the artwork of Dan Denholt, the comic will be made available at "Kashapalooza" stops and conventions alike, including the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, which will feature appearances by such stars as Satu Rautaharju and Jasmin St. Claire (whose characters are featured in the CB book).

Also in the works from Lost Colony Comics is a graphic novel featuring characters from the upcoming television pilot, "Breach of Heaven."

WB Network Puts Censored Show Online in Unedited Form

Friday, March 24, 2006

The New York Times is reporting that the WB Network (which will soon be merged with CBS-owned UPN as the new CW Network) will place an unedited version of a new pilot series online after censors removed several scenes fearing an FCC fine.

Tom Fontana (legendary producer of such shows as "Homicide: Life on the Streets," "St. Elsewhere," and "Oz") was asked by network officials to remove what they deemed "controversial content" from his new show, "The Bedford Diaries," and he flat out refused. The WB then allowed their censor to make the cuts and proceeded to announce that they would instead air Fontana's original version on the Internet.

"Audiences these days are being forced to seek alternative methods if they want to see the real thing," says Fontana. "It's like they're telling people that broadcast television now has much less interesting stuff than you see on the Web or cable."

However, cable isn't immune to the pressures either. Just recently, Comedy Central pulled a repeat of its controversial "South Park" Scientology-bashing episode after the church (and reportedly Tom Cruise himself) complained. Cruise, who denies that he had anything to do with the show being yanked, had reportedly threatened to pull out of doing publicity for his upcoming film, "Mission: Impossible 3" if the repeat ran as scheduled. "MI3" is a property of Viacom, which also owns Comedy Central.

"South Park," which began on the Internet nearly a decade ago, has a strong fan base which is now threatening to boycott Cruise's film in retaliation.

"I think this is an interesting social phenomenon," says Producer Fred Hueston, whose pilot episode for his upcoming "Traveling Man" has also drawn some flak for its content. "It clearly shows that there's a shift in the way we receive our electronic entertainment and information. We're no longer at the whim of just a small handful of avenues to distribute programming and in a lot of cases, it seems the consumer has the upper hand over the product supplier, which wasn't always the case in the past. It was more of a seller's market because there were such limited means of getting content delivered. That's no longer the case and it's truly a fascinating time to be working in this industry."

Lost Colony 'Accident Curse' Strikes Again

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Add sixteen-year-old Karolina Stefko (Poom-Ka in "Traveling Man") to the list of actors who've worked with Lost Colony to find themselves involved in highway mishaps.

"It was sooo scary," says the bubbly model/actress. "I was coming home from the mall at, like, six at night and the traffic and sun were really bad so like, in the [driver's training] book it told me that if I can't see the road I'm supposed to look at the white line...so I did and, like, the car in front of me just stopped really fast."

At this point, the young starlet's brief life flashed before her eyes. "So, like, I couldn't see her, y'know, therefore I tried to break...but it was impossible for me to stop that fast so I just ended up--BANG!--hitting her. I mean, like, it's not bad bad. My car is almost fixed and the cop only put two points on my insurance instead of four so, you know..."

In much happier news, the teen star announced that she's going to prom.

Lindsay Lohan Gunning for Satu's 'Wonder Woman' Role?

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Teen queen Lindsay Lohan has let it be known that she wants to play Paradise Island's favorite princess in the upcoming "Wonder Woman" film from director Joss Whedon and producer Joel Silver.

The five-feet-seven perky freckled redhead isn't exactly the first choice that pops into one's mind when casting a powerful Greek amazon, but Whedon has been known to throw in a swerve from time to time.

"Communication Breakdown" star Satu Rautaharju has long been rumored to top the list of actresses being sought for the role. Catherine Zeta-Jones, another frontrunner on that list, recently stated she had no interest in pursuing the project.

Filmmaker Applauds Court's Decision in Teacher Sex Scandal

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Prosecutors in Florida dropped sex charges against a twenty-five-year-old former middle school teacher today, ruling that it would be "too traumatic" for her "victim," a horny 14-year-old boy, to testify.

"Sweet Jesus on a pogo stick with a candle up his ass, people need to get a grip." says filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan in regards to educator Debra Lafave doing the nasty with a student. "One, at fourteen, this boy was probably getting a boner just looking at an electric can opener.

Two, he had this hot, crazy, nymphodelicious piece of ass...who looked like Christina Applegate for Christ sake...leanin' on him, nurturing him, gently guiding him through the trials and tribulations of the jungle that is the public school system...I mean, Gawd! Just...let 'em screw. Screw like the wind. Like monkeys! If I had some super smokin' loony bitch jumpin' my bones after school when I was fourteen, I'd probably be waaay less screwed up than I am today. I say fire all the old hags in school and put Hooter's girls in the class room. Seriously, they should just implement a blowjob system. For every passing grade, a kid gets sucked off. Test scores would improve dramatically overnight."

O'Sullivan went on to say that Lafave should call him when she gets her ankle bracelet off.

'Communication Breakdown' Star in New Music Video

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

As host of the "Metal's Darkside" DVD series and the all new "Metal Scene" TV show, "Communication Breakdown" star Jasmin St. Claire is certainly no stranger to head banging. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see her featured in the new video, "Capture the Magic," from the band Icarus Witch.

St. Claire plays a Dulcinea-in-distress, trapped in a seemingly inescapable netherworld in this brilliantly visual, effects-laden clip from Swedish auteur Mats Lundberg. To see the video,

Chloe Sevigny Storms Off Set After 'Brown Bunny' Question

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

Veteran ABC newswoman Barbara Walters was stunned recently when actress Chloe Sevigny (along with Bill Paxton, her co-star in the new TV series, "Big Love"), stormed off the set of "The View" following questions about her controversial fellatio scene in the Vincent Gallo movie, "The Brown Bunny."

Last year, Jacob Christner (who plays Choke Boy in "Communication Breakdown") made national headlines and incurred the wraith of Gallo when he claimed that it was his special goodies Sevigny had in her mouth in the scandalous movie. Christner later recanted his statement but the fact remains that Gallo's face and genitals were never shown in the same frame at the same time, leading many to speculate that a body double was in fact used.

'Communication Breakdown' Hottie Visits Diamond David Lee Roth

Monday, March 20, 2006

Jasmin St. Claire, who plays sexy secretary Janice in "Communication Breakdown," will appear on the new radio show hosted by rocker David Lee Roth later this month.

Roth, the original lead singer for Van Halen, took over the syndicated network formerly piloted by Howard Stern last January after the controversial "King of All Media" bolted for Sirius Satellite Radio.

St. Claire landed a major role in the upcoming "National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2" (from the makers of "Van Wilder," "Animal House," and the Chevy Chase "Vacation" movies) after producers saw footage from her performance in "Communication Breakdown."

"Jas is silencing her critics," says her friend, filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan. "She's got such a natural on-camera presence. She's as talented as she is beautiful and I couldn't be happier for her."

'Communication Breakdown' Star Leaves the Booth for the Road

Monday, March 20, 2006

Actor/musician Willie Repoley will hit the open highway once again this May, as he launches yet another tour with his band, the critically-acclaimed Mock Turtle Soup.

The eclectic three-piece ensemble (also featuring Chris Holleman and Pearl Mueller) will make stops in such towns as Louisville, Kentucky; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Greenville, South Carolina, playing a unique style of music that has become closely associated with American Contra dancing.

Meanwhile, Repoley can also be heard providing voices for the animated television series, "Miami Guns." He stars as conflicted disc jockey Cary Martin in "Communication Breakdown."

Captain Schoolgirl Flies to the Rescue in Beantown

Thursday, March 16, 2006

After becoming the surprise hit of the New York Comic Convention, Satu Rautaharju ("Captain Schoolgirl") is now taking her crime fighting crusade to in-store appearances around the country.

Satu, who also plays psycho babe Misty in "Communication Breakdown," will next appear in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday March 25, signing copies of her comic book and DVD at Comicazi.

Rautaharju was recently named one of the hottest female stars from Canada, appearing alongside the likes of Avril Lavigne and Evangeline Lilly.

'Communication Breakdown' Creator Plans Directorial Debut

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Actor/Writer/Producer Dan Lashley will soon be adding "Director" to his business card. The twenty-eight year old mastermind behind "Communication Breakdown" has begun pre-production on an untitled project that he will both star in and helm.

"I've read the script," says Marvel Comics writer Madison Carter. "It's the best thing Danny's written. I was just gonna read a few pages at a time but couldn't stop. I usually don't do that. It's an awesome script."

Lashley's longtime writing and producing partner Richard O'Sullivan echoes Carter's sentiment. "It's the most mature writing he's ever done. A very quirky character study. I can't wait to see what he does with this."

Production is scheduled to commence shortly after the conclusion of this fall's cross-country "Kashapalooza" tour to promote the release of the "Communication Breakdown" DVD and soundtrack CD.

Filmmaker Goes Back to Radio Roots With New Show

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Writer/Producer/Director Richard O'Sullivan has become somewhat synonymous with projects set in the world of radio. His first movie, the infamously shelved Anthony Stewart Head project, "Radio Free Babylon (Or How to Suck the Brain of a President's Daughter)," portrayed radio executives as evil mind controllers bent on world domination while the upcoming "Communication Breakdown" has been described as "Clerks on the airwaves."

What some may not know, however, is that O'Sullivan himself is a former on-air personality, starting in the radio biz when he was only nineteen. Now the thirtysomething helmer is returning to that world with a new show called "Live from the Unabomber Cathedral." The program will feature an eclectic mix of music and talk and will air initially on the Lost Colony website before being expanded to include syndicated and satellite distribution.

The title of the show is a nod to O'Sullivan's domicile during the making of "Radio Free Babylon," which he lovingly referred to as "The Unabomber Shack." He later rechristened it "The Unabomber Cathedral" after becoming a non-denominational minister via the Internet.

'Communication Breakdown' Star Hits Cover of Lollipop Magazine

Friday, March 10, 2006

Actress/model/rocker Satu Rautaharju has been pegged to grace the cover of April's issue of Lollipop Magazine, filling out a pair of shorts in a way that Grandma might not approve.

The twenty-three-year old stunner, known for her appearances on such shows as "One Tree Hill" and "Dawson's Creek" (along with her band Straight Razor Seduction), most recently appeared alongside supermodel Adriana Lima in a Maybeline commercial. She's been working as of late on a super heroine project called "Captain Schoolgirl."

When reached for comment about the magazine cover, Rautaharju's "Communication Breakdown" director Richard O'Sullivan could only muster one sentence ("Whoa, Sally...") before spending the next two hours whimpering like a puppy. To check out the new pics,

'Communication Breakdown' Readies for Long Awaited Release

Monday, March 6, 2006

The long-delayed "Communication Breakdown" is at last ready to go. The raucous comedy, which has been compared to such films as "Clerks," "Empire Records," and "Airheads," is finally in the can and will soon be striking out at an unsuspecting populous.

"It's been a long time coming," says the film's star and producer Dan Lashley (who wrote the story and scripted with the help of director Richard O'Sullivan). "We built this thing from scratch and hit a lot of bumps along the way but to finally have it ready to go is better than winning an Oscar."

Geared toward a college audience from the onset, "Communication Breakdown" will launch a university tour in the fall called "Kashapalooza" (named after Lashley's character in the film, DJ Kash Flagg), which will feature not only a screening of the film but also performances from bands appearing on the soundtrack.

"We've got over fifty pieces of music in the film," says Executive Producer Fred Hueston. "Really good music. We're set in a radio station so it makes sense that the tunes would really move things a long. We're very fortunate to have established great relationships with some terrific musical artists and we're excited to have the opportunity to hit the road with them."

True to the outlaw theme of the film itself, "Communication Breakdown" will reject the normal distribution windows and make itself available through various distribution channels simultaneously.

"We were really galvanized by the strategy used for Steven Soderbergh's recent film," says O'Sullivan. "Releasing 'Bubble' in theatres, on DVD, on cable, and on Broadband Internet at the same time really ruffled some feathers, but it's the wave of the future and right in line with what we had planned to do all along. We're not closing any doors in regards to working with major studios but from the very start, we said we weren't playing the 'ho' in this scenario. We're pimping out of the gate, no if's, and's, or but's."

Film critic Roger Ebert echoes O'Sullivan's sentiments about the dissolution of the old windows of distribution. "Not every film is 'King Kong.' Not every film has to play the Multiplexes. Why shouldn't filmmakers get their films out to their audience in whatever fashion possible? It beats having the film simply sitting on a shelf and not being seen. I liken it to going to a Rolling Stones concert, then going out into the lobby as you leave to pick up their new CD. Well, really, it's the same thing. What's wrong with being able to buy a DVD in the lobby of the film you just watched on the big screen? Or seeing it on pay-per-view? Or the Internet?"

In addition to the fall college screenings, producers plan to screen "Communication Breakdown" in select cities as well as market the DVD at fan conventions (three of the film's stars -- Brian "The Blue Meanie" Heffron, Jasmin St. Claire, and Satu Rautaharju -- are popular favorites on the fan con circuit). Negotiations are ongoing for major retail DVD and television distribution.

"Kashapalooza" will be sponsored in part by the soon-to-launch ampDADDY.com, a new Broadband Internet service featuring network-quality entertainment programming.

Filmmaker Applauds Oscar Night Telecast

Monday, March 6, 2006

"Honestly? I thought Jon Stewart was the best Oscar host I've ever seen," says "Communication Breakdown" director Richard O'Sullivan. "He toned his act down just enough to be 'non-threatening' in the way that Bob Hope and Johnny Carson were, but put enough bite in his wit that you didn't feel like your intelligence was being robbed or your time was being wasted."

Stewart, the forty something stand-up comic who parlayed a gig as a 90's talk show host for MTV and Paramount syndication into a career as a pop culture icon (with his ongoing stint as anchor for "The Daily Show"), opened the 79th Annual Academy Awards with a skit featuring former Oscar hosts Billy Crystal, David Letterman, Whoopi Goldberg, and Chris Rock, each turning down the thankless job.

"I prefer Jon in that particular role to any of those people," says O'Sullivan. "It was great how he never lost that sheepish look on his face. It was like watching the show with a friend. You sit there, knowing how messed up and garish it all is but it's part of the culture, you can't not watch, so goofing on it while you go through the motions is part of the fun. He totally got that vibe and turned it into a hip happening in the process. I thought it actually flew by fast. The comedy hit the mark most of the time, the producers kept things moving, the graphics and video packages were cool, I thought it was the best produced, and easily digestible, Oscar show I've ever seen. Plus 'Crash' deserved to win, so it had a happy ending."

Director of 'MySpace: The Movie' Nabs Deal With MTV

Wednesday, March 1, 2006

David Lehre, who directed the short comedy "MySpace: The Movie" has been offered a deal with MTVU, MTV's online college-based broadband network, after his satirical film was uploaded onto YouTube.com and viewed by more than six million Internet users.

"David's story just goes to prove what we've been saying," says Producer Fred Hueston. "Old Hollywood is dying on the vine. The new technology is making a brave new world possible. This kid came out of nowhere and suddenly he's turning into a player overnight. The smart companies are the ones who are gonna embrace this sort of thing instead of fighting it." Surprisingly, MySpace founder Tom Anderson is a fan of the flick himself and even congratulated Lehre on his success. To watch the film,

'Communication Breakdown' Star Wins Over the New York Comic Con

Wednesday, March 1, 2006

"Captain Schoolgirl" proved to be a big hit at this past weekend's New York Comic Convention, as Satu Rautaharju (Misty in the Dan Lashley-created "Communication Breakdown") hit the floors to meet and greet with fans.

Even execs from Marvel Comics were stoked to hang out with the sexy super heroine, obviously taking note that her comic books and DVD's were flying off the tables despite having a very limited promotional campaign. "Satu could sell bottled water to an electric eel," says filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan. "Everything she touches turns to gold. I'm smelling Captain Schoolgirl action figures, refrigerator magnets, and ice cream bars in every home within two years flat." Visit the newly launched Captain Schoolgirl website by
