'Communication
Breakdown' Star Goes Anime
Monday,
March 29, 2004
Satu
Rautaharju, who plays Misty in the upcoming LCE comedy "Communication
Breakdown," can now be heard as the voice of Benton in the redubbed
English version of the classic Japanese anime film, "Urusei Yatsura 3:
Remember My Love." Rautaharju, who has appeared on such TV shows as the
WB's "Dawson's Creek" and Fuse's "IMX," as well as in
the films "The Locket" and "A Walk to Remember," splits
her time between acting and music. An accomplished guitarist and singer, the
blue-haired, heavily-pierced beauty is being tabbed by many insiders as a
face to watch in the coming year.

Blue Ridge Greenlights
Rock Biopic
Sunday,
March 28, 2004
Blue Ridge Motion
Pictures, the emerging Asheville, NC-based
production studio (where LCE's "Communication
Breakdown" is currently filming) has announced plans to shoot a
rock & roll biography based on the meteoric rise and fall of a 60's
group called Moby Grape. LCE head Richard
O'Sullivan, who recently coined the Asheville film and arts scene
"Haight-Mayberry," thinks the Blue Ridge connection is a perfect
fit. "We're all thrilled for Leanne [Campbell], Tom [Barkstedt], and
everyone at Blue Ridge. Asheville has been called the San Francisco of the
South for years and I don't think there's a better place on the planet to
host this project." The script for the $6 million flick was written by
David Chanoff, a noted biographer who previously penned books on Israeli
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and former U.S. Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders.

Distributor Caught In Teen Sex Sting
Thursday,
March 4, 2004
|
Rob
Feinstein, a video distributor who threatened Lost Colony Entertainment with
legal action last month after we reported on his solicitation of an illegal
movie screener, has been caught in an undercover sting by a Philadelphia
television channel. The 28 year old Langhorne, Pennsylvania man was video
taped by NBC affiliate WCAU visiting what he thought was the home of a 14 year
old boy he had been "romancing" online. The sting, done in
conjunction with an anti-pedophile website, culminated with Feinstein
"making a date" with what he thought was his new underage
"boyfriend." The distributor, who made headlines in February when
LCE reported that he was attempting to buy a copy of the then-unreleased
Bernardo Bertolucci film "Dreamers," worked with the FBI in 2003 in
order to send a Virginia man to prison on charges of illegal video piracy.

Thursday,
March 4, 2004
|
Lone Star state icon Richard "Kinky" Friedman has
announced that he will run for governor of the state of Texas in 2006. The
legendary author and musician (who fronts the band known affectionately as The
Texas Jewboys) will enter the race as an independent, promising to run an
unconventional and irreverant campaign. Friedman, who if elected, may be the
funniest governor in history, says "I just want to be as honest and as
open as I can be. I will not kiss babies. I'll kiss their mothers."
