New York Post Reports
'Communication Breakdown' Star As New 'Wonder Woman'
Sunday,
February 13, 2005
Actress Satu
Rautaharju, who stars as Misty in the upcoming
"Communication
Breakdown,"
is remaining tight-lipped on the news that she is the
frontrunner to play "Wonder Woman" in an upcoming big
screen adaptation of the comic book warrior. The
New York Post is reporting that the twenty-two year old
beauty may soon follow in the footsteps of recently-cast
"Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh as the latest
virtual unknown to take over a legendary super hero franchise.
Routh, with brief stints on such shows as "Will &
Grace" and "Gilmore Girls," beat out such
established stars as Brendan Fraser and Nicolas Cage to play the
new Man of Steel, whereas Rautaharju, from such WB shows as
"One Tree Hill" and "Dawson's Creek," now
seems to have the edge on such high-priced actresses as
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angelina Jolie. "The names I keep
hearing seem unlikely," says Writer/Director/Producer Richard
O'Sullivan. "Jolie and Zeta-Jones carry huge price tags
and are already attached to franchises. Angelina's doing Tomb
Raider. Catherine's in Zorro. Then you've got Charisma
[Carpenter] doing Playboy, which Warner Brothers may or may not
frown upon. Mini Driver is actively campaigning for it and she's
a terrific actress, but I just can't see her getting the
gig."

Filmmaker to Release DVD
Boxed Set on Elvis to Benefit Ex-Beatle's Charity
Sunday,
February 6, 2005
Documentarian Ken Vrana is a filmmaker who believes in a good cause.
The director's 2003 film "Snow Angels" not only
depicted the lives of women living with breast cancer, it was also
used as an effective tool by such organizations as Garland Appeal
USA (the foundation of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney in honor of his
late wife, Linda) to raise money and awareness to fight the disease.
Now Vrana's coming out with a new project, and like his previous
film, all the profits are going to charity. "Tribute," an
11-disc DVD boxed set (with accompanying coffee table book) looks at
the sometimes messiah/disciple-type relationship between the late
Elvis Presley and his fans and will once again benefit Garland
Appeal. Vrana, who previously looked at followers of the King of
Rock & Roll in his film "The Fans" (which also
examined aficionados of stock car racing, pro wrestling, and college
basketball), was interviewed about the project last October for a
documentary on the Andie MacDowell-led charity Enduring
Ties (shot by
"Communication
Breakdown"
helmer Richard
O'Sullivan). Vrana says he wasn't a huge Elvis fan prior to make
the film but admits that it's impossible not to get caught up in the
fervor.

Satu Rautaharju as Joss
Whedon's 'Wonder Woman'?
Saturday,
February 5, 2005
Hollywood sources report that they've seen
"Communication
Breakdown"
star Satu
Rautaharju's name mentioned in regards to playing the DC
Comics amazon on the big screen. The Warner Brothers project, from super
producer Joel Silver, will (most likely) be helmed by "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer" head honcho Joss Whedon, who's big screen
directorial debut, "Serenity," hits theaters in September.
Such names as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie, Mini Driver, and
Charisma Carpenter have been bandied about, but insiders speculate that
the studio will attempt to build a new franchise on a lesser known,
younger star. The exotic twenty-two year old Rautaharju, a Canadian of
Finnish and Trinidadian descent, has appeared on such television
programs as "Dawson's Creek" and "One Tree Hill" and
provides the English-speaking voice for the character of Benten in the
animated "Urusei Yatsura" series.
