'Communication Breakdown' Star Sets New Project in Stone
Sunday, April 18, 2004

Actor Fred Hueston, who stars in "Communication Breakdown" as a lecherous radio executive, has a new venture that he hopes will see the inside of a lot of Hollywood offices. Hueston, who happens to be one of the leading experts on stone, marble and tile issues in the world, is the head of the National Training Center for Stone and Masonry Trades, has served as a nationally-syndicated newspaper columnist and home repair how-to host, and is now launching a new line of executive office furniture. "Fred's furniture is amazing," says filmmaker Richard O'Sullivan. "It's more than just pre-fabricated product. It's art. No two pieces are exactly the same." Hueston will next be seen in the medieval comedy, "The Magic Cornflake," playing a wizard who offers a canine the key to the universe. To see pics of Hueston's non-acting work (as well as what Dan Lashley and Richard O'Sullivan would look like as guests on "Home Improvement"),

North Carolina Filmmakers Form Alliance
Thursday, April 15, 2004

In an effort to overcome its recent reputation for driving projects out of the state, several North Carolina producers (and wannabe producers) have formed the North Carolina Production Alliance, a non-profit corporation designed to stimulate growth in the Old North State's film economy. LCE head (and North Carolina native) Richard O'Sullivan welcomes the formation of the group, saying "The 'Cold Mountain' situation was a disgrace. The recent exodus of projects from the state which once claimed to be the number three center for film in the U.S. has given North Carolina a real black eye. LCE has chosen to work here and we've proven that when people pull together and refrain from acting like conniving little backstabbers, you can get quality projects in the can. Hopefully groups like the NCPA will carry on in that spirit."

'Communication Breakdown' Wraps Production
Sunday, April 4, 2004

Exactly two years and one day after it began its first feature (the controversial "Radio Free Babylon"), Lost Colony Entertainment wrapped production on the quirky comedy, "Communication Breakdown." A co-production with Bang Productions (whose video for a cover of the George Michael classic "Careless Whisper" by rising R&B sensation Del just debuted on MTV and BET), "Communication Breakdown" is being geared toward a college audience and will feature a soundtrack heavily-laden with indie rock. Director Richard O'Sullivan says he is pleased. "We have fourteen hours in the can. Our DP John Edmonds has one of the best eyes in the biz and the cast and crew on CB was the best collection of people I've ever worked with. Linda Marlowe, Fred Hueston, Teresa Villa, Mike De Loach, Mike Porter, John Burgess...there are so many people we hafta thank properly for making this thing happen. People who went above and beyond the call of duty. Working with the people at Blue Ridge was tremendous, we got incredible support from the Asheville [NC] film and arts community, and I think when we premiere this puppy, a lot of people are gonna be very proud of the finished product." Plans for a promotion trailer to pitch to Hollywood execs are already underway with post-production to follow immediately.
